Too often...we read a negative story about a sports figure...that leaves us with a sour taste in our mouth about athletes in general.
This story was in our local paper today...about a local boy...who has made good with his life and sports career so far.
Dustin was a classmate of our daughter, Joni, and they remain in contact. In fact, Joni & Ryan met up with some friends last fall in New York...had dinner with Dustin...and attended his football game that Sunday.
He seems to have his priorities in order. He has his money diversified so he's not totally dependent on football...and he is sharing some of it with kids who are less fortunate.
It's good to read about a 'real' sports hero. I know there's more out there...we just don't seem to read as much about them. I guess they're just busy doing the right things...rather than the wrong ones.
