DON'T TELL ME

Sometimes...we want to know the 'scoop' about something that is not apparent. Rumors fly as everyone discusses what they think is the answer to the 'proverbial question'.

For nearly 50 years...those who were around at the time of the assassination of JFK...believe there are answers out there that 'somebody' knows...but isn't saying. Books, movies, symposiums have all been repeated 'ad nauseum' with possible answers to..."who killed JFK...and why"?

On a more personal and less worldly note...there are questions that each of us have had, that we 'want' an answer. How many times have we...after getting the answer...wish we hadn't heard it?

For 40 years, there have been questions about 'who' was Carly Simon speaking about in her song 'You're So Vain'?

You walked into the party like you were walking onto a yacht
Your hat strategically dipped below one eye
Your scarf it was apricot
You had one eye on the mirror as you watched yourself cavort
And all the girls dreamed that they'd be your partner, they'd be your partner, and
You're so vain, you probably think this song is about you
You're so vain, I'll bet you think this song is about you
Don't you? don't you?

The rumor I heard over the years was Don McLain (singer of American Pie, Vincent). The attached article mentions other rumors included Mick Jagger and Warren Beatty.

After all these years...Carly finally revealed who the song was about. It was about...a record company executive.

Oh...

It was more glamorous to think about other possible names. Wish she woulda just kept it a secret.
